In 2024, I proudly presented my project "The Hairline Bag" at my first exhibition at the Textiel Museum in Tilburg. Thanks to the unique opportunity to work in the museum’s Textiel Lab,This innovative concept emerged from my exploration of hair material that is typically discarded in salons and its potential within the fashion and textile industry.
The foundation of "The Hairline Bag" lies in my experiments with repurposed hair, leading to the creation of a unique bag crafted from tufted human hair on linen. This design not only highlights the intricate textures and qualities of hair but also addresses sustainability by reimagining a waste material into a functional product.

A key component of my project is the embroidered DNA molecule visuals, created using one of the machines in the Textiel Lab. These visuals are intended to clarify the meaning and significance of redesigning with waste materials, such as human hair. By visualizing the DNA structure, I symbolize the inherent value and uniqueness of each strand of hair, just as DNA is a fundamental building block of life. This connection emphasizes the idea that discarded materials hold stories and potential waiting to be unlocked.
The DNA visuals reinforce the message that hair, along with other often-overlooked materials, is valuable and can play an important role in sustainable fashion and textile applications. I aim to invite the audience into a dialogue about innovation and the creative possibilities that arise from rethinking what we consider waste.
To enrich the visitor experience, I developed a sample book that allows people to touch and feel various textures of processed hair. This book showcases different techniques and possibilities for integrating human hair into fashion and textiles, sparking conversation about the future of sustainable design.
Exhibiting at the Textiel Museum was a significant milestone in my design journey, and I am thrilled to share the insights and creativity behind "The Hairline Bag."
I have outlined the key activities and accomplishments that contributed to this exciting project.
