Harnas

Harnas: A Fusion of Glass and Brass (2023)

In 2023, I embarked on an exciting design journey with my project "Harnas," which marries glass and brass in a unique expression of protection and empowerment. The inspiration for this design stemmed from my fascination with the film Spartacus and my personal reflections on safety as a woman.

Initially, I experimented with various forms and combinations of glass and brass. This exploratory phase allowed me to test different structures and concepts, eventually leading to the creation of distinct designs for both men and women. The male design features suspenders, symbolizing strength and support, aligning with how men often derive their power from visual elements. Conversely, the female design is crafted to protect the breasts and heart, utilizing organic shapes that celebrate femininity. This intentional choice reflects my belief that a woman's true strength lies in embracing her inner beauty and vulnerability.

In developing "Harnas," I skillfully utilized a glass oven alongside graphic design software, including InDesign and Clo3D Fashion. These tools facilitated the visualization of my ideas, enabling me to fully explore the unique properties of glass and brass in my designs.

My work on "Harnas" serves not only as a protective garment but also as a dialogue about personal safety and empowerment. I aspire for this project to resonate with those who wear it, celebrating strength, courage, and beauty in the face of challenges.
